Rwanda Hinga Kawa Abakundakawa Medium Roast

Rwanda Hinga Kawa Abakundakawa is our latest offering of unusual coffees we bring in for a one-time run. This amazing coffee is one we’re really enjoying cupping. It’s a fully washed and sundried coffee from the Bourbon lineage. After trying these at several roast levels, our master roaster has taken it to a lovely medium roast. This final coffee is rich and full of late summer notes of light bergamot, lemon, and jasmine. It’s not overly citrusy, but rich and sweet, vibrant and full of flavour.

Abakundakawa means ‘Coffee Lovers’, and is the name of the cooperative that brings us this luscious new coffee. Hinga Kawa means ‘grow the coffee’ and refers to the special group of women in this cooperative. They are widows who’s husbands were killed during the Rwanda genocide. We’re proud to continue to support Café Femenino with their international coffee projects!
