Privacy Policy

What personal data we collect and why

At Cupper’s Coffee & Tea, we like a good joke and a light-hearted attitude as much as any body. Having said that, we always are serious about your privacy and personal information. We use only the same basic stuff any other good-guy website uses. But we get wanting to be sure… so read on for more info.

Info collected

We only collect personal information from you when you give it to us. We have your name, address and email address by filling in an order or asking us to add you to our newsletter. When you use your credit card to make purchases on our website, we use a Merchant Services provider. To be clear, we use Stripe to ensure your privacy and manage the payment. None of us never see or store any of your card information in any form.

That’s it for your personal info collected! Yay!

Cookies and privacy

Cookies are a handy text file put on your computer every time you visit any website. Almost all websites use cookies to help the users have a smoother experience. Cookies also help the website understand and support their customers better. They’re a way for a website to remember you’ve been there before. It’s much like recognizing someone at your door when they come back a day later. Cookies don’t tell us who you are or your email address. For further privacy, our cookies have set duration limits. When that time limit has passed, the cookies delete from memory.

If you visit our login page, we will set a temporary cookie to determine if your browser accepts cookies. This cookie contains no personal data and gets discarded when you close your browser.

When you log in, cookies save your login information and your screen display choices. Login cookies last for two days, and screen options cookies last for a year. If you select “Remember Me”, your login will persist for two weeks. When you log out of your account, that removes the login cookies.

If you leave a comment on our site, you may opt-in to saving your name, email address and website in cookies. These are for your convenience. It’s so that you don’t have to fill in your details again when you leave another comment. These specific cookies will last for one year.

We do allow Google to store cookies from our website. This is because we use tools like Google Analytics to see how traffic flows on our website. These can’t track a specific user or any personal information.

We do not and will not ever use cookies to collect any private information from any user that was not intentionally given to us specifically by that user.

Embedded content from other websites

Articles (blogs) on our site may include embedded content (e.g. videos, images, articles, etc.). Embedded content from other websites behaves as if you visited the other website.

These websites may collect data about you and use cookies. They may embed extra third-party tracking. This allows them to track your interaction via that embedded content. This can include if you have an account and logged in to that website.

Analytics and privacy

We may use general information gathered by our website. We customize, analyze, and improve our services, products, and supports for our customers. We’re always changing, tweaking and working on what we sell to you, so we want to make sure we’re getting it right! Individual privacy is still respected.

Newsletters

If you sign up for our newsletter from our website, we promise to only use it for what you’ve asked for. We don’t want to invade your privacy. We only sign you up for one specific newsletter that generally comes out on a weekly basis. You are asked for your birthdate, but that’s only because we want to send you something a little bit special that month. There are other Cupper’s newsletters for folks who purchased specific products from us. Another is our Kona, Jamaican, or Panama coffee email updates, but nothing else. And we especially never, never, no-how, *ever* sell your email address to any one else.

Who we share your data with

All information we gather from you is only used at Cupper’s. We value your privacy like our own. We never distribute or disclose your info to anyone unless you give us express permission to do so. In other words, we will never share it without you telling us we can. We value your privacy almost as much as you do!

The only exception is if we are ever requested (through official channels only!) to assist with a police investigation. But we know our customers are awesome folks.

How long we retain your data

If you leave a comment, the comment and its metadata are kept indefinitely. This is so we can recognize and approve any follow-up comments automatically. Otherwise we’d have to hold them in a moderation queue.

If you register on our website, we store the personal information you gave in your user profile. As a user, you can see, edit, or delete your personal information at any time. The one exception is your username. If you want that changed please contact us. Our internal website administrator can see and edit that information for you.

What rights you have over your data

You have rights! If you have an account on this site, or have left comments or reviews, you have a couple of options. First, you can request to receive an exported file of the personal data we hold about you. This includes any data you have provided to us. Second, you can request that we erase any personal data we hold about you. This does not include any data we have to keep for administrative, legal, or security purposes.

Any questions about our website?

We’re happy to help. Please contact us via email at cupperscommunity@gmail or by phone at 403.38-4555 any time. To be honest, it might take a day or two to be able to answer all your questions. But we’ll get them from you, give you a timeline and get back to you as soon as we can.

So you’ve made it to the end of our privacy info here. That’s a loooong, not very interesting read. Wanna have a joke, just to lighten it up a bit?

How often do coffee lovers think about coffee?     ->      They think about it a latte!   🙂

Yeah, sorry. Not the best joke ever. But thanks for hanging on all the way till we finished!

Let’s be friends, stay in touch!

About once a week we send out a quick, lighthearted email letting you know what’s new at Cupper’s. We’ll tell you about special or seasonal coffees, new products and drinks, monthly prize draws, and all kinds of sass and shenanigans.

We’ll send you a follow-up email asking your birthday so we can send you a special treat. Watch your spam folder in case it gets diverted!

Fill out the form below and become a part of the Cupper’s community!

Our site admins (at Cupper’s itself, not outsourced!) are the only people who have access to our newsletter list. This info will not be sold, exchanged, held hostage, spindled, folded, or replaced by an exact duplicate from another universe. We promise to only send you out our newsletter, an annual birthday surprise, and occasional special updates… for example, if we find a real, live unicorn to transport our coffee directly to you! (We would do that, you know.)  🙂
