Kona Coffee, Extra Fancy Lion’s Gate 1lb – Back in winter 2024

Worldwide, Kona Coffee is one of the best coffees around. Once again, we’re proud to offer it in very limited quantities this Christmas. We always get our Kona green beans from Lions Gate Farms on the big island of Hawaii. Their coffee is hand-picked and sun-dried right on the slopes of Mauno Loa volcano on a 10 acre farm of heirloom coffee trees. They grade their greens on a gravity table to Hawaii certification standards. Extra Fancy is screen 19, so the bean is larger than a screen hole diameter of 19/64″. Larger screen sizes have a lower number of defects as well. Then their coffee is wet processed, depulped and fermented in the traditional Kona style.

This year’s crop is SPECTACULAR! Our Master Roaster takes this Kona Coffee to an exceptional medium roast. This roast highlights the smooth Kona flavour, and is never harsh or bitter. It also has more depth than some might expect. We also found a slight nutty, creaminess brought by the macadamia nuts grown on the same land.
